Dr. Josh Patterson

Research and extension in my lab is focused on restoration aquaculture, the practice of culturing aquatic organisms to enhance populations of impacted species or restore lost ecosystem function. This field is very diverse and we have ongoing projects with corals, sea urchins, sponges, seagrasses, oysters, marsh grasses, sport fish, and bay scallops. Our work tends to be applied and hands-on. We also frequently collaborate with scientists in disciplines such as genetics, analytical chemistry, and ecology to improve outcomes in all phases of the restoration aquaculture process.
