REBECCA LUCAS

About

I am a master’s student in Fisheries and Aquatic Science interested in bay scallop restoration. My current work is to develop a method to determine restoration success using genetics. My love for studying the ocean started when I was three and my family was stationed in Guam. I have moved throughout the United States but keep coming back to Florida. Previously, I studied seasonal recruitment and restoration techniques for Florida’s worm reefs following beach re-nourishment. I have also studied salmonid habitat use in the Elwha river of Washington State as well as monitored dolphin populations in coastal Mississippi. I have spent the last 5 years with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission marine fisheries management education team.
